hey wasblind,
keep up the great work!
Believe me, the things you are sharing with them will not be easily forgotten. It may take a while to sink in, but I believe that is how most everyone who leaves gets the necessary kick-start to begin thinking on their own.... someone like you drops a little nugget of real truth and it causes some doubts.
These doubts will eventually lead to an awakening.

i don't know why but, for some reason, tonight i decided to google someone i used to date (seriously but briefly) back in the 1990's.
i put in his name and up came~you guessed it~his obituary.
he's been dead for over nine years!
Yikes. I'm in my 40's too.
Time to load up on brocolli again.
Sorry that you had to discover that bad news. It must have been weird and sad all at the same time. Life can be far too short sometimes.

after shopping at costco for years and years, i just realized i don't even check the prices anymore to compare them to those at other stores.
somewhere along the way i got into the habbit of assuming that they always have the best prices and best products.
it dawned on me that it's sort of like that with being a witness especially if you were raised as that way.
let me get this straight.
are you saying Costco doesn't have the best prices?
The Oracle
a few months ago i read an article about this in discover magazine.
as i realized the implications it gave me a sick, eerie feeling.. in short, suppose memories of the deceased are collected and downloaded into a program?.
what you are about to see is a prototype program for what i suspect may be robotic construction for the near future of resurrecting loved ones who have passed on.
interesting
i used to call them "cult like" but i do believe they are a "cult".. what's your opinion?.
yes - first century christians as described in bible books would be cult-like, but probably not belonging to a full blow cult. They seemed much more foot loose and fancy free.

Yeah, I went through that stage for a long time even after I had my awakening... I would refer to them as cult-like, but resisted the notion that they were a cult. I would even make a defense on their behalf when I heard others refer to them as a cult. But alas, I have grown since then. Eyes are now wide open.
They are very much so a cult. Most religions are cult-like, but not all our cults. The JWs are most assuredly a cult according to the way I view a cult.
Too much control - and too much suppression of individual thought - with the most severest punishment for non-conformity. That my friends is more than cult-like - that my friends is a cult.

i don't post here much, so hopefully i put this in the right section.
if not, let me know.. i've emailed my aunt about the new generation change, just to see her reaction to it and what her mindset is.
i tried to keep it simple and not attack her personally as she has a heart of gold and has been a jw 40+ years.
I would just answer her questions honestly.
Dear Auntie,
Many different religions are preaching "good news" from the bible, but there are only a few other groups to my knowledge who are directing people to a god named "Jehovah". I feel that just because someone is directing others to a diety named Jehovah does not mean they have the truth or are good people for that matter. Do you think Robert King and his followers who advocate that Jehovah has become King and encourage everyone to follow Jehovah have the truth, and that we should listen to them - just because they are directing people to Jehovah? I don't think that is good enough, and I am sure you feel the same way Auntie ________.
As for your second question, I haven't found that person or group yet. From what you are telling me, and from what I have learned on my own it would appear that the Jehovah's Witnesses aren't really teaching the truth. At least they weren't a few months ago. You have to admit that they change major teachings a lot. You would be disfellowshipped today for believing things that were considered truth just a few years ago. And if you went back in time 10 years ago and let it be known that you believe things that are taught today by the Watchtower (current teachings now believed to be the truth) you would be summarily disfellowshipped. That doesn't make any sense does it? But that is the reality when it comes to this organization. Please pause and think about this, and try not to be too defensive. It's important to carefully consider this point. Even though we both may feel there are a lot of nice things about the JW people, it is painfully obvious to any thinking person that they obviously cannot be teaching truth.
Take care Auntie. I hope you come to your senses one day. I love you very much, and it hurts me to know that you are a victim of a mind control cult. Life is wonderful in the real world.

Ouch. Waste of life is correct. Very sad.
Oh well. Thank Zeus, its not me!
a predatory jw paedophile micheal porter (uk) who has a 15 year record of abuse including the rape of his own baby but somehow evaded jail now is a member of my old congregation;wimbledon.
words fail me, to think of the years of shunning that these idiots have heaped upon me even by my own family and this piece of shit was seen a this years memorial laughing and joking with the congregation.
strange that this news story slipped passed me when it was broadcast by the british media in 2007..
I actually wouldn't feel bad punching that guy hard in the face.
